Linyanta “Lynn” Nwosu, JD, LCSW, is a Black woman therapist and the founder and clinical director of Life Wellness Therapy, a trauma-informed psychotherapy practice serving teens and adults. Lynn works with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, identity development, burnout, and major life transitions. Her approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in the understanding that a client’s experiences may be shaped by family, culture, race, faith, relationships, work, and community. Her clinical work incorporates evidence-based and integrative approaches, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, somatic practices, and strengths-based therapy. Treatment is individualized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all model. Some clients intentionally seek a Black or African American woman therapist because they value cultural connection and want to spend less time explaining aspects of their lived experience. Lynn welcomes clients from all racial, cultural, and personal backgrounds while providing a space where identity and culture can be discussed openly when relevant to treatment. In-person therapy is available at the Life Wellness Therapy office in Houston’s Energy Corridor. Secure telehealth appointments are available to clients located throughout Texas.

The information here is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice. Consult a licensed healthcare provider about your specific situation.
How do I know if I need a therapist?
If stress, anxiety, sadness, or relationship difficulties are affecting your daily life, talking to a therapist can help. You don't need to be in crisis — therapy is for anyone who wants support navigating life's challenges.
What's the difference between a psychologist, psychotherapist, and counsellor?
Psychologists have doctoral-level training and can do clinical assessments. Psychotherapists (Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario) provide talk therapy. Counsellors offer guidance on specific life issues. All can help — the best fit depends on your needs.
Is therapy covered by provincial health insurance?
Psychologists and psychiatrists may be partially covered. Most psychotherapy and counselling requires private insurance or out-of-pocket payment. Many employers offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) with free sessions.
How much does therapy cost in Houston?
Sessions typically range from $120-$250/hour depending on the provider and province. Many therapists offer sliding scale fees. Check if your insurance covers mental health services.
